Forum Policy (or what to do, what not to do)
« on: February 08, 2014, 01:54 AM »
Limits
The following items will be deleted:
  • Replies that are not related to philosophy
  • Random quotes, pictures, videos, poems
  • Irrelevant/off-topic discussions, and comments that are not relevant to original posts (OPs)
  • Promotional/commercial posts (e.g. personal interests (blog, website, band, book, or brand), other communities)
  • Spam and Link Spam. Offenders will receive a warning
  • Trolling & ad hominem attacks (comments & posts of this kind will be removed immediately. More info. here and here). Offenders will receive a warning
  • Religious evangelism and propaganda (evangelists will be banned and their posts will be removed)
Plagiarism
Plagiarism and self-plagiarism (i.e. recycling) are not tolerated (learn more). Offenders will receive a warning.

Warnings
Warnings are only visible to the moderators and the warned member.

One warning --> member --> watch list.
Two warnings --> posts subjected to approval.
Three warnings --> account becomes read only.

Editing posts
Posts remain editable by their authors for 24 hours. Then they are automatically locked and cannot be edited any more. If you have to submit a revision, please ask a moderator to assist you with that.

If a moderator edits a post, they will leave a note saying just that.

When replying to a post, please don’t quote the entire post. That would be pointless and will be deleted by editors.

Double posting
A user is not allowed to make two or more consecutive posts within one day under the same topic (they should edit their current post instead). Non-consecutive posts are not limited though.

Deleting posts
Philosophy CLUB, the administrator(s), moderator(s), and other personnel are not under any obligation to delete any post with or without a request. Once Online, Always Online. That means “what happens online, stays online forever.”

All the works in this forum, i.e. Philosophy CLUB, are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License. If a post has a different copyright status or license, then it must be stated in the post by the author.

Suggestions
If you have interesting ideas, questions, or topics that have not been discussed before, please post a new topic. It will not show up anywhere if you are not a moderator, but the corresponding moderator will take notice and might include it in the list of upcoming topics.

The guidelines look fine as of now. One suggestion though --- consider giving prominent links on the welcome page itself, for FAQs and Forum Policy.

That is a very good suggestion. I'll do that.

Update: Done!
